Steam trap monitor
July 1st 2007

The new Gestra VKP 40 TRAPtest steam trap monitor from Flowserve can detect failed or under-performing traps in-situ, making it suitable for engineers to identify and isolate problems as part of routine troubleshooting or when undertaking full inspections within a planned maintenance programme. The VKP 40 is designed for universal application covering all makes and kinds of steam traps as it detects and evaluates ultrasonic vibrations on the casing surface of the trap during operation.

These vibrations are compared against pre-sets for fully functional traps and a graphic presentation of the measurement results is displayed on an illuminated LCD screen in the form of a standing curve. An integrated temperature measurement facility has also been added to the VKP40 to help identify obstructed (banked-up) traps
