ALLOWS DRIVES TO GO ONLINE
March 1st 2005

A new Ethernet module from Control Techniques brings on-line connectivity to its range of AC drives, enabling direct drive access and diagnostics from anywhere in a plant or process, or even from the other side of the world.

SM-Ethernet is a plug-in option that is housed within the drive’s own footprint, giving Ethernet connectivity to the ‘Solutions Platform AC drive’ Unidrive SP and the new Commander SK general purpose AC drive.

The new module covers 10Base-T and 100Base-T Ethernet, also known as Fast Ethernet, gives easy connectivity, incorporates Modbus TLP/IP-P, allows users to set-up easy drive access via web pages and supports SMTP mail and DHCP IP addressing.

The Control Techniques Modbus TCP/IKP protocol supports the standard Modbus features and some optional functions that allow the communications to tunnel through the Ethernet option module and onto CTNet, the company’s drive-to-drive network.
