Compact controllers November 1st 2003 Rockwell Automation has introduced the new Allen-Bradley CompactLogix range of compact controllers that combine high performance machine and process control with the benefits of network communications.
Offering the power of the companys Logix control engine in a space-saving package, compactLogix provides cost-effective logic control for a range of standalone and networked applications.
With a user memory of 64kB to 1.5MB, local I/O capacity of up to 30 Compact I/O modules and a range of networking options, including DeviceNet, ControlNet and EtherNet/IP, CompactLogix completes the line up of Allen-Bradley Logix controllers. Logix can now handle any application from simple machine sequencing to distributed control of a plant-wide batch system using a single, integrated platform
Despite its compact size, the unit shares the key features of the Logix family. These include the ability to perform sequential, process and drives control functions, a multi-tasking operating system able to handle one continuous and seven periodic tasks and a tag-based memory model that allows data to be structured by the user to fit the application.
