Flexibility from cable glands
January 1st 2005

M. Buttkereit has introduced new family of cable glands to the UK.

The icotek range is designed to offer maximum flexibility to users.

The KEL cable gland system combines a split polyamide entry plate or frame used in conjunction with captive grommets in an elastomer material. Grommets, which are split to accommodate cable insertion, are pre-formed to suit cable, wire or conduit sizes from 3 to 34mm dia. The split design of both frame and grommets ensures that even the retro-fitting of prefabricated cables, incorporating pre-moulded or special purpose end fittings, can be undertaken easily.

Individual grommets can be supplied to accommodate from single up to four cable entries, with multiple assemblies within a single entry plate to achieve a high density of varying sized cables within a small space.

When fully assembled with appropriate grommets, the split frames are clamped together with two screws. The resulting compression joints achieved between cable, grommets and frame ensure IP54 protection, together with a secure and tight strain relief for the cables.
