Full steam ahead
January 1st 2005

Alfa Laval says its TS-M series of plate heat exchangers solve one of the biggest problems of using the power and convenience of steam to heat water for process heating.

Conventional plate heat exchangers, it says, can struggle when conversion of water to steam involves extreme temperature differences because the high steam velocity can cause erosion and noise.

The TS20-M plate heat exchanger provides a solution due to a combination of improved plate geometry specially developed gaskets and stronger frame construction.

Stainless steel plates, with high surface:volume ratio, encourage close temperature approaches that give extreme sensitivity to temperature control and a smaller overall footprint.

Gaskets, made from HeatsealF, can cope with 180°C. They allow the exchanger to respond to changes in temperature, thereby avoiding problems associated with metal fatigue.
