MEASURES MERCURY January 1st 2005 In anticipation of legislation to extend the requirements for the measurement of mercury levels in the environment, Casella ETi has introduced a range of equipment that embraces on-line process instrumentation and laboratorybased systems.
Key to the range is a high performance photometer with long life electrodeless discharge lamp that provides a stable UV source for accurate, repeatable measurements, together with low operating costs and a high degree of reliability.
The company believes its TUVapproved SM-3 stack monitor to be the first to operate with reagent-free thermo-catalytic detection of elemental, ionic and particle bound mercury in waste and sewage sludge incinerators, power plants, crematoria and so on.
Other instruments include: the PA1 for online liquid or wastewater measurement; the UT3000 with sub nano gram measurement range for environmental monitoring or measurement of trace levels of mercury in natural gas; and the custom-built MMS system for monitoring mercury in air at multiple measuring points in buildings, chlorine production cell rooms and laboratories.
