NEW DESIGN May 1st 2005 A major design change for smaller plate heat exchangers has been made by Alfa Laval. Its new M3 compact frame simplifies exchanger design by replacing the conventional, bolted, plate and frame assembly with a wrap-around shell into which the plate pack is assembled without the need for bolts.
As a result, the M3 frame uses instrumentonly 12 components, Overall weight is said to be cut by 50%, a benefit in HVAC, oil cooling and steam heating applications where space and weight can affect cost.
Frame, cell connections and plates are in stainless steel as standard and can be supplied in more exotic materials. The unit will accommodate between 15 and 70 plates, providing a maximum possible heat transfer surface of 2.2m2. More articles from Alfa Laval Limited: |
