Purified water storage vessel September 1st 2003 Braby, manufacturer of stainless steel silos and vessels, has successfully completed a complex project to supply a high specification vessel for the storage of purified water at GlaxoSmithKline.
Braby was approached by PSL Worldwide, the engineering company contracted to supply the generation, storage and distribution system for GSK.
The key requirement was for a vessel that could be cleaned to a very high standard, so that its contents pure water used in the manufacture of drugs would not become contaminated.
A 6000l pressure vessel was designed by Braby with integral insulation and fully welded cladding to the shell. Mounted on three legs, the vessel has a sealed roof manway for internal access and was fitted with a removable sprayball system for the continual wetting of the tank internals.
The design of the vessel also needed to take into consideration the significant vacuum that may be generated after the regular steam/hot water sterilisation process.
Ray Harlan, managing director of PSL Worldwide, comments Braby was able to produce a very good looking product that surpassed the industry hygiene requirements. More articles from Braby Ltd: |
