Olympus Industrial has appointed rental specialist Ashtead Technology as its partner for the digital i-Speed system that can record at up to 33 000 frames per second.

The camera has proved popular in the development of many manufacturing, packaging and printing processes, and is being used in applications such as vehicle impact safety testing, ballistics, biomechanics and pharmaceutical research.

Weighing less the 5kg, the system can be used by almost anyone with minimum training required.

while the camera is able to operate independently of the pc, it is important that images can be archived easily. i-Speed can download AVI movie files to Compact Flash cards for transfer to a PC using PCMCIA or USB adapters.

The camera can also be linked using an Ethernet lan directly to a pc, providing either pre-edited or automatic download of selected frames quickly and easily.
