Art of pumping September 1st 2005 The art of pumping thick, viscous fluids such as pastes, gels, syrups, oils and greases from barrels and drums quickly and efficiently depends on a high performance drum pump, according to Finish Thompson, a company that recently developed such a pump.
Available through Michael Smith Engineers, the HVDP (high viscosity drum pump) is driven by an 800W motor that ensures optimum pumping performance with smooth, non-pulsating flows.
The positive displacement pump has a progressive cavity design that incorporates a rotor inside a stator. As the rotor ‘rotates’, one cavity diminishes and another is created, displacing liquid up the drum pump in a smooth, nonpulsating flow that contributes to the pump’s energy-saving characteristics.
The pump handles liquids with viscosities to 20 000cP at flow rates to 32L/min, heads to 91m, and it is suitable for temperatures to 82°C. More articles from Michael Smith Engineers Ltd: |
