Design & supply November 1st 2004 Spirax Sarco’s involvement in the design and supply of a complex hot water control system has helped Pirelli meet a tight deadline for expanding tyre production at its European Centre of Excellence for Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Tyres, Carlisle.
High pressure hot water is used to cure the tyres and a new plant was needed to meet planned production increases.
Using parameters from Pirelli, Spirax Sarco designed the hot water plant’s control system and supplied a range of isolation and pneumaticallyactuated control valves.
John Wilson, utilities engineer at Pirelli, says We had just nine days in which to remove the previous plant and install the new one. The system worked first time and has provoked interest from elsewhere in the Pirelli group.
It uses steam to supply water at high pressure and high temperature. Spirax Sarco valves on the steam side control water temperature and pressure.
Other Spirax Sarco valves control the hot water makeup and system backpressure. More articles from Spirax Sarco Ltd: |
