Waste costs are halved September 1st 2005 Waste disposal costs have been halved at ColArt’s Artist Paint plant in Harrow following the installation of a centrifuge from Centriquip.
Wash-down water and waste material from the plant must be processed before being discharged into the sewage system or sent to landfill sites. Until the end of 2004, solid waste materials were separated from the contaminated wash-down water by gravity, before being transferred to skips for disposal at landfill.
Now, an AS460 centrifuge separates liquid and solid waste materials. This ensures that waste water is clean enough to be re-used for ‘dirty’ washdown of plant.
The remainder is discharged into the sewage system.
With 27 000L of water used for washdown every day, these savings alone are considerable. Solid waste emerges from the centrifuge as a dry cake, reducing transport and landfill costs. More articles from Centriquip Ltd: |
