Elfab discs improve safety March 1st 2005 Speciality chemicals manufacturer Rohm and Haas, in conjunction with engineering partner ABB, has installed Elfab Amourgraph graphite bursting discs with Integral Flo-Tel detection.
The company is a top-tier COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazard Regulations 1999) site and as it is close to the centre of Jarrow, it is keen to reduce the risk of any release from its plants by maintaining strict levels of operational reliability.
The reason for the switch to Elfab Amourgraph discs was to increase the overall reliability of the burstdetection system and add higher levels of protection against accidental release.
The new discs help alleviate some of the problems associated with some graphite discs, such as sensitivity to misaligned flanges and over-torque.
The G3A Amourgraph device has a steel body and non-invasive, fully reuseable ATEX Zone 0-approved Integral Flo-Tel detector that only operates when the disc has ruptured, eliminating the possibility of any false alarm signals. More articles from Elfab Limited: |
