Quick cooling July 1st 2009 Two Airmax unit coolers from Alfa
Laval are helping lamb and beef
processor,West Scottish Lamb,
increase its market share by maintaining
chill rooms for lamb and beef
processing at optimum temperature.
The two Alfa Laval AirMax unit
coolers were installed as part of an
overall upgrade of the beef and lamb
chill units carried out in 2007 by
Carlisle Refrigeration. Specification
for the installation was for
temperatures to be reduced as
quickly as possible to preserve the
colour and flavour of the meat. In
the lamb chill unit, the temperature
has to be reduced from 38°C to 10°C
in 21 hours and 8°C in the beef chill
unit.
The cooler mounted on the wall
of the beef handling room delivers
13.35m3 of cold air per second while
its smaller counterpart in the lamb
chill unit provides roughly half that
volume, 6.683m3 every second. More articles from Alfa Laval Limited: |
