Combating silica
July 1st 2008

A new application factfile on the damaging effects of silica in power plants and how monitoring can help combat it, is available from ABB. Silica monitoring in power stations is a four-page guide aimed at power plant operatives responsible for plant maintenance.

Silica forms a dense scale on boilers and turbines that can be difficult to remove. Build up can cause power plant equipment to operate less efficiently, possibly resulting in premature failure. The free guide explains the latest generation of silica monitoring technology available from ABB and the benefits that it can bring to users.
