Cooling for corrosive environments
July 1st 2006

Rittal's new specially treated TopTherm units offer a cooling solution for use in corrosive environments. Available in either mild or stainless steel, all external surfaces and internal components are coated for protection against hostile air bound substances.

Previously the units have been supplied in stainless steel, which did not protect the internal components of the system. With the new treatment all internal elements in contact with contaminated air are completely coated in 2K-PURcoating, including refrigerant pipe surfaces and soldering joints, evaporator and condenser coils and bent tubes. All outdoor sheet metal is coated according to RIQSWIN.013 (standard coating for chemical environmental conditions).

The coating performs up to 100C and adheres well on the surfaces of copper, steel, aluminium and zinc as well as being resistant to yellowing and weathering. The treatment also provides protection against diesel, oils, emulsions, ammonia vapours, hydrogen sulphide, vapours of sulphuric acid, dilutions pH 10 ph4 at room temperature, and even room temperate ethanol, isobutene and benzene for 5 minutes.
