Designed to boost capacity July 1st 2006 Alfa Laval's WideGap 350 heat exchanger has been developed to meet demand for increased capacity in applications such as sugar mills and ethanol plants. It has a new plate configuration to handle particle bearing fluids and give up to 36% better throughput capacity.
The unit's plate design offers four channels ranging in width from 5 to 17mm. The wide channels are complemented by 350mm ports that, the company says, enable the exchanger to handle up to 36% larger flows of fibrous liquids than its predecessors.
The result is an exchanger suitable for heating and cooling duties involving fluids that could clog standard plates.
The plate configuration is also said to provide better heat transfer than more conventional wide gap units. This is enhanced by an inlet distribution system that ensures uniform fluid distribution across the heat transfer surface. More articles from Alfa Laval Limited: |
