Designed to cool transformer oil
May 1st 2011

A modular air heat exchanger designed to cool transformer oil – the AlfaBlue BO from Alfa Laval – comes in a range of capacities from 50 to 600kW and is suitable for insitu and remote installations.

Modular in nature, the coolers are of the OFAF (Oil Forced/Air Forced) type and are supplied either skid or palletmounted for simple installation and start-up. Units can be installed vertically or horizontally, depending on the duty. Fan motors are removable, ensuring rapid access for cleaning/maintenance and the casing is strong enough to withstand vibration and thermal shocks.

The aluminium fans come in three diameters – 800, 900 and 1000mm) and are arranged in a single row. Five different fan speeds and/or noise levels can be selected. The unit is also available in a dual-fan speed version. The fan motors use energy sparingly due to low static pressure.
