November 1st 2007 Hoerbiger-Origa has expanded the range of applications for its rodless pneumatic cylinders by a developing a version that offers temperature compensation. This enables it to be used in extreme heat or cold. Rodless cylinders are a popular means of providing linear motion and can often be found in unusual circumstances. One such application is in the doors of buses trams and trains, which can be exposed to tremendous temperature variations. The new units are based on the Origa OSPP range and are available in the standard sizes of 25, 32, 40 and 80mm bore. They include a sliding seal arrangement so that the air-driven piston can be connected directly to the load. Automatic temperature compensation is provided to the inner band seal so that it adjusts for thermal expansion and contraction, while maintaining an airtight seal.
