Grist to the mill
July 1st 2006

14 Alfa Laval P3400 decanter centrifuges keep one of the UKs largest meat rendering plants operating efficiently and in an environmentally-sensitive manner.

The centrifuges at John Pointon & Sons work with a minimum of supervision, rotating at 4000rpm to generate the 3200G required to separate solid matter from the liquid phase in the third stage of tallow production, producing various grades of tallow for conversion to lubricants, paint and a finely-milled solid fuel source that Pointon & Sons themselves use.

"The Alfa Laval machines are central to each process. If they go down, the process stops. That is why we pay so much attention to their maintenance and service. Alfa Laval are real specialists"
