Racing transmissions firm speeds throughput
July 1st 2011

As a leading supplier of custom-engineered high performance transmissions, XTRAC operates advanced manufacturing practices and its processes are always under review to improve efficiency and ensure compliance with international standards.

Previously, machined components going through the various stages of manufacture were coated in a heavy, oil-based corrosion preventative, which had to be removed and re-applied after each operation.Messy and time-consuming to remove, it also presented H&S concerns.

XTRAC introduced VCI bag technology along with an aqueous-based detergent that has a rust inhibitor additive that allows components to be worked on without being removed, saving an average of 200min per component.

A specially adapted blowerpowered JetBlack from ACI delivers a high volume of clean, filtered air at low pressure which provides rapid, efficient drying with no danger to the operative.
