Full body tracking September 1st 2008 Denca Controls has operability.
designed, developed and
installed a body tracking
system at the Jaguar X-Type
and new Freelander 2
manufacturing facility in
Halewood.
The body in white is
engraved with a unique
identity number that
remains with the vehicle
throughout all production
stages to identify vehicle
type, trim and complete
specification.
An Edward Pryor
engraving machine marks
the vehicle with a 'car in'
number in the wheel arch.
This data is then tracked
through the body in white
and paint stages via use of
strategically-placed vision
recognition cameras.
After the painting stage,
the vehicle is barcode tagged
to identify it during the
remaining stages. Denca
installed 20 Sick barcode
scanners for trim and final
manufacturing stages. Data
gathered feeds into
Jaguar's Quality Logging
System, also installed by
Denca a
