For Wet Milling and Pumping

A pump that combines wet milling and pumping has been introduced by AxFlow UK. The NEWX pump, made by Wernert, is a single-stage centrifugal unit that has a special grinding impeller for wet grinding of fine suspensions and slurries.

Certified for duties in explosive environments in accordance with directive 94/9/EG, the pump contains an impeller and casing made from a cast material known as Wernit and has two separate radial zones.

The inner zone operates in the same way as a conventional centrifugal impeller, with slurry being sucked into the impeller blades and forced outward.

The second, outer zone takes the form of an annular gap inside which slurry particles are milled by the turbulent impact as they come into contact with each other and the rough surface of the impeller and casing.

Sharp-edged particles of Silicon carbide are contained in the Wernit material and form an almost insuperable barrier to abrasive wear.
