Resists corrosives
May 1st 2006

Ultrachem pumps are designed to transfer aggressive fluids in tough chemical process applications. The ANSI dimensional, magnetically driven pumps are made from a tough ductile iron casing with a Tefzel (ETFE) lining that is said to provide optimum corrosion resistance.

Available through Michael Smith Engineers, the series consists of three models that deliver flows to a maximum of 59m3/h at heads to 67m. Longer pump life and reliability are the major benefits claimed for the pumps.

A modified concentric volute minimises the effects of radial loads, evenly distributing pressure across the flow range, resulting in less stress and wear on key components. This, combined with a rear sealing ring and holes in the impeller help to balance the hydraulic axial thrust that also contributes to less pressure on the impeller. Other features include straightening vanes in the suction chamber that prevent pre-rotation under low flow conditions.
