Heap & Partners' new smart valve positioner 'Storm' has been designed to offer increased functionality and improved control over conventional value positioners, yet is easier to use.

Simplicity is the key to the positioner with it's comprehensive auto set-up programme providing rapid onsite commissioning by self-tuning to meet the requirements fo the application. In-built diagnostics reduce maintenance time and help with the production of preventative maintenance schedules.

Measurement of valve position is by a high accuracy potentiometer mounted on the drive actuator shaft via a friction clutch. The design allows automatic set up in which the clutch disengages from the drive shaft and the potentiometer moves to its zero position, removing the need for a difficult and time consuming alignment procedure.

The enclosure is manufacturered from corrosion-resistant PPS and has stainless steel fasteners. It is certified to Eex ia IIC T5 for use in hazarous areas.
