Clever level sensors
May 1st 2008

ifm electronic says its latest level sensors do more than just check levels.

The new LL series has four independent switching outputs.

Continuous monitoring of, for example, coolant or hydraulic fluid levels in all kinds of vessels, is its basic function. In addition, it will indicate an overfill of the vessel with an extra switchpoint, which for safety reasons is completely independent of the level measurement.

The two programmable outputs of the leakage monitor detect sudden, as well as progressive, leakage without additional programming of the controller.

A second new sensor – the LT series – has four outputs, two for level monitoring and two more which can be set to monitor the temperature of the medium anywhere between -10 and 100°C. Integration of the level, overflow and leakage monitoring function in one unit, or combining level and temperature, eliminates the need for additional mounting, wiring and software input.
