Connector joins range
November 1st 2007 Available from ifm electronic, the ecolink M12 socket is designed to improve connector technology. The outer ring of the unit's stainless steel sleeve serves as a seat for the sensor plug. This ensures that the sealing ring is protected against excessive purge pressure from the coupling nut and is said to ensure permanently high efficiency. The sleeve also serves as vibration protection. The saw-tooth type locking of the vibration protection operates asymmetrically. ifm says it ensures easy mounting of the connector and, at the same time, a higher locking. In this way, almost complete shock and vibration resistance is obtained. The connector can be fitted by hand and still gives a high level of performance. A further improvement for the user has been made in versions with LED. Black transparent plastic is used. Light transmission is high so that the light is barely dimmed. The advantage is a strong contrast between the LED colour and the black housing of the connector. The ecolink M12 is said to be appropriate for temperatures from - 25 to 90°C.
