See far safely
July 1st 2008

ifm electronic's O1D laser distance sensor is now available with a safe Class 1 laser source.

The O1D155 will measure up to 6m, and has the features and performance of the established O1D versions. Beyond 6m the background is suppressed and the suppression extends to 100m.

Under EN60825-1 a Class 1 laser is deemed safe for the human eye under all operating conditions, making it increasingly popular for sensing applications.

Like its predecessors the O1D155 offers the user two selectable switchpoints, or a single switched output combined with a scalable analogue signal. It is in a diecast housing 42mm wide by 45mm high and 52mm deep. O1D155 uses ifm's pmd chip, a means of calculating distance by time-of-flight all on one chip. This keeps dimensions of the sensor to a minimum and costs down.

All O1D versions are fitted with standard M12 industrial connector, and feature a four-digit LED display panel on top of the unit, next to the setting buttons.
