Sensors for wet tasks
March 1st 2008

The latest addition to Leuze electronic's range of opto-sensors (also called photoelectric sensors) is suitable for food and pharmaceutical processing lines, applications where strict hygiene is enforced and where there is the need for intensive cleaning and disinfection cycles.

The Series 55 sensor has been developed with emphasis on ensuring that the glass-free optic cover and the operating elements are absolutely leak-proof and gapfree.

This is coupled with a highgrade stainless steel V4A (316L) sensor housing, IP69K rating, and suitability for application in elevated temperatures, opening up a range of applications in clean environments.

Food processing, cosmetics and pharmaceutical are all areas where the new sensing device will operate. Its wash-down design makes it possible to clean the entire system with common cleaning agents and processes.

The non-diffusive and chemically resistant materials in the optics and operational controls, and the gap-free construction of the sensors, prevent bacterial carryovers.
