Super-slim sensor
March 1st 2006

The W2 range of sub-miniature photoelectric switches from Sick (UK) has a new super-slim member. The W2 Flat offers all the features of a photoelectric proximity switch in a body just 3.5mm wide.

Offering an impressive size:performance ratio, the sensor can detect both transparent and reflective objects (two variants). No external amplifier is required and it can be directly connected to machine control systems.

Commissioning is simple; simply connect the unit using M8 cable plugs, align it and it's ready. The laser-like spot offers detection of the smallest parts, giving precise detection capabilities.

With an IP67 enclosure rating, the sensor has an operational temperature range between -20 and 50°. Available in different versions, the sensor is said to be able to resist the effects of external stimuli such as EMC, ambient light, impact and vibration.
