Fast-track solution to Ikea’s floor problem March 1st 2005 Afast track concrete floor construction system used by Concrete Grinding has helped to reduce costs and installation time at a Barcelona distribution centre operated by Ikea.
This is the second contract handled by the CG Group at these premises. Last year, the company was called in by Maersk Logistics, who manages the 75 000m2 building, to upgrade 24 aisles in the floor to DIN 15185 specification so that VNA trucks could work efficiently.
Concrete Grinding used Laser- Grinder machines to form two 380mm-wide wheel tracks in 24 aisles, completing one aisle a day.
The warehouse operated as normal.
The company has now been given overall responsibility for the floor in a 35 000m2 extension to the building, including 28 aisles, 130m long, that again have to meet DIN 15185 standard for VNA trucks. The new floor will be laid with a LaserScdreed machine, allowing large areas to be completed quickly and with a high degree of accuracy. More articles from Concrete Grinding Ltd: |
