Aisle upgrade for Sony July 1st 2008 Concrete Grinding has
upgraded racking aisles in
Sony DADC's NDC at Enfield
to allow more efficient and
safer use of VNA man-up
trucks.
The three-wheel wireguided
man-up trucks pick
orders for packaged media
from 12m high racking. The
flatness and general
condition of the six 60m
long aisles required the
speed at which trucks travel
to be reduced to stop them
disengaging from the
guidance wire and making
contact with the racking.
Previous attempts to
improve floor flatness with
localised hand-grinding had
only resulted in slight
improvement, so Concrete
Grinding was asked to carry
out a full upgrade.
After a profileograph
survey, failed steel
expansion joints were
replaced with high-strength
epoxy mortar. The
LaserGrinder then ground
the width of each aisle to
DM2 specification, in some
areas removing 15mm of
material despite the presence
of hard flint aggregate.
The joint in each aisle
was saw-cut and a clear
protective sealant applied.
The warehouse remained
operational and there was
no need for stock to be
protected or moved. More articles from Concrete Grinding Ltd: |
