Comfort confirmed May 1st 2007 Coba, says a recent scientific
study it commissioned, has
confirmed that anti-fatigue mats
can significantly increase comfort
for workers who stand for
prolonged periods of time and can
help to reduce fatigue.
The experiment, conducted by
Professor George Havenith and
Lucy Dorman from Loughborough
University, compared thermal
comfort and fatigue using floor
matting samples to standing
directly on concrete slabs using
objective and subjective measures.
Fourteen participants were
provided with the same test
clothing and conditions, standing
on different anti-fatigue mats for
90min sessions in the
environmental chamber.
The subjective results showed
statistically significant benefits to
users of anti-fatigue mats when
compared to standing on a
concrete floor, especially to the
lower and upper legs and lower
back areas. Comfort comparisons
between 'mat' and 'no mat'
conditions after 90min were
significant with benefits to both
thermal and postural comfort. More articles from Coba Europe Ltd: |
