Tough, anti-static floor

flexible, chemical and slipresistant
and that provides
an anti-static surface, has
been installed for a
chemical company in
Scotland.
Construction of a steel
mezzanine deck within the
factory, where alkaloid
opiates, fine chemicals and
pharmaceutical ingredients
are produced, resulted in
the installation of the highspec
floor.
Supplied by Sika and
installed by XL Industrial
Resins, the system included
priming of steelwork with
Sika Icosit EG1 Rapid, a
fast-curing epoxy resin that
provides a chemical and
abrasion resistant coating.
This was followed by a
coating of Sikafloor 220,
providing a highly
electrostatically conductive
layer. The final surface was
an application of Sikafloor
390AS, a self-smoothing
epoxy coating able to cope
with movement from the
steel deck. Sikafloor 390AS
is also electrostatically
conductive, provides high
chemical resistance and
