Treatment for galvanised steel November 1st 2004 Special chemicals company Pugh & Co claims a major breakthrough for the galvanised steel and nonferrous metals fabrication sector with its Actan GS Primer, a waterborne surface treatment that now has BBA approval.
The product is 100% waterbased, with a VOC content of less than 0.1% that more than complies with EC Directives and US environmental legislation. It is said to be safe for users and has low environmental impact.
Actan GS works as an adhesion primer ensuring the adhesion of subsequent coatings on hot dip or electro galvanised steel aluminium, copper, bronze and stainless steel.
Application can be by brush or spray. The surface simply needs to be degreased and, on older surfaces, white rust on galvanised steel, for example, must be mechanically removed.
The product has been tested in arduous conditions, such as beneath the Thames barrier, and was found to produce a hard, flexible, non-porous impact resistant film. It can be overcoated with one and two-pack protective paints. |
