Cool solution boosts comfort
November 1st 2004

When plastic building product manufacturer, FloPlast, moved to a new site, the company’s management were determined to find a way of reducing heat in the production hall where 21 injectionmoulding machines contributed to summer temperatures of up to 50°C.

The solution was provided by a Breezair evaporative cooling system that provides employees with a work environment of 23°C.

Following a site survey, building services consultant engineers, Walker Mower Partnership, specified nine Breezair evaporative coolers from Seeley International.

These are installed on the roof of the building. Each unit was then ducted to two discharge swirl diffusers to maintain a steady flow of refreshing cool air around the production hall.

The system allows doors and windows to be kept open while providing a constant flow of naturally cooled air. It is said to be economic to install, cost effective to run and to consume less energy than conventional air conditioning systems.

It provides sufficient cool air to overflow and prevent hot air entering a building. As fresh air is continually drawn from outside, passed over a saturated medium and washed, the potential for sick building syndrome from constantly circulating air is said to be avoided.
