Is air quality an issue for you? November 1st 2004 Helping to ensure the air quality at St Thomas’s Hospital in London, Jasun Filtration has provided filters for some of the air-handling units within operating theatres, wards and general offices.
The company provides the hospital with various grades of air filters, ranging from EU3 to EU8 across the full range from panel to bag types. Filters are changed on a regular basis by St Thomas’s inhouse maintenance team.
Air quality in sterile operating rooms, isolation rooms and patient rooms is a critical issue in patient care. Also, if air quality is poor, health care providers can be exposed to toxic and hazardous gases and particulates. Employees involved in administering chemotherapeutic drugs, for example, can be accidentally exposed to toxic levels of the drug if air filtration is inadequate.
Jasun Filtration uses Kimberley- Clark’s Intrepid filter media that is designed as an alternative to traditional cotton/poly media. Made from thermally bonded, continuous hydrophobic polyolefin fibres, the Intrepid media is designed not to shed fibres or absorb moisture.
No chemical binders are used during the manufacturing process and the media is electret treated to create a force that attracts particles. The combination of electrostatic charge and strong mechanical efficiency in the structure yields an optimal filter design for sustained efficiency. More articles from Jasun Filtration Plc: |
