Multi-cell cooling tower
July 1st 2006

Watermiser has recently completed the installation of a new multi-cell, glass-reinforced plastic cooling tower at National Grid's LNG storage facility in Avonmouth. The multi-cell GRP towers replace large timber structured two and three cell units, but use the existing concrete ponds, reducing the requirement for pipework modifications.

Each cell has a dedicated ATEX compliant fan set and water inlet pipe, therefore it is possible for one or more cells to be electronically and hydraulically isolated for inspection or cleaning while the others remain on line. Each tower cell is constructed of a two piece GRP moulding, minimising joint and sealants.
