Premier cooling
September 1st 2008

Premier Foods Bury St Edmunds has installed 5 more EcoCooling evaporative coolers to cool their sauce preparation area. This brings the total number of coolers installed to 75, which represents the largest single evaporative cooling installation in the UK The units sited on the roof produce 15 air changes per hour of cooled fresh air which is ducted the area by insulated stainless steel ducting to achieve spot cooling for personnel operating the various work stations. Up to 35kW of cooling is achieved from just 1.5kW input of electricity at a cost of approximately 10p per hour per cooler giving an internal working temperature of 22°C adjacent to the units.

A constant internal environment is maintained by using temperature systems connected to the coolers and a sophisticated control process – standard to all EcoCooling units allows internal conditions to be carefully monitored and controlled.

Extraction is through 2 massive carbon filtration units to eliminate smells from the production area.
