The only bay is up November 1st 2006 Kitchen appliance manufacturer, Baumatic has solved the problem of loading and unloading without loading docks with two mobile yardramps from Thorworld Industries. The 10t (10,000kg) capacity ramps which have an overall length of 12.2m and a useable width of 2.25m are being used in a 10, 000sq ft distribution centre in Abingdon. A serrated open grid deck provides positive traction in all weather conditions. When a container truck arrives, one of the ramps is positioned adjacent to the building's level access doors. A fork lift truck drives up the ramp into the back of the container, collects a load and takes it inside the warehouse. Thorworld carried out several modifications to the ramps to meet Baumatic's specific requirements. Instead of the usual hand operated hydraulic pump, an electric motor was fitted to automatically raise the ramps to the required height. More articles from Thorworld Industries: |
