Strip away problems of lamp fitting replacement March 1st 2008 The larger sizes of strip
fluorescent lighting – 8ft T12
and 6ft T8 ceiling battens –
are common in warehouses and
storage area applications.
However, many organisations with
8ft T12 fittings were facing the cost
and disruption of having to ditch
and replace those fittings as tube
makers discontinue T12 lamp
supply. A solution from Energy
Conservation Solutions permits
continued use of installed 8ft
luminaires and offers energy savings.
ECSL's Save It Easy units, when
fitted to the end of high efficiency
Triphosphor T5 and T8 lamps,
provide the H/F ballast, enabling
those lamps to operate at full
efficiency in old-style ceiling battens.
Foot-long Save It Easy units at
each end of the lamp – one
actively ballasted and one on an
extension unit – enable 8ft T12
ceiling battens to be converted to
6ft T8 Triphosphor luminaires at a
56% energy saving.
Central location of the shorter
lamp broadly maintains the lamp
distribution pattern and lumen
output is said to be more than
adequate for most applications.
Commenting on 8ft conversions
already completed, Steve Adams,
sales development director, says
"We don't push this solution for an
application such as a drawing
office, where light values are at an
absolute premium. However,
feedback from users in hospitals,
warehouses, hotels and offices is
that lighting levels fully meet
required standards after
replacement of the 8ft lamps. I
attribute this not only to the higher
foot-for-foot lumen output of the
Triphosphor T8s but also to the
way they maintain performance." More articles from Energy Conservation Solutions Ltd: |
