Special grease
May 1st 2005

Electrical erosion is a relatively common occurrence with bearings operating in electric motors, electrical generators and bearings in industrial process equipment where a static discharge may inadvertently be generated.

Kluber Lubrication believes erosion damage can be prevented using its Kluberlectric B42-72, a tribologically engineered electrically conductive special grease. It has an exceptionally low electrical resistance. This leads to efficient electrical transfer and damage-free electrical discharge through the bearing.

As an example, the product was applied to electric motor bearings in a cement mill separator that suffered from electrical erosion.

Since the changeover, the lowest recorded vibration ‘noise floor’ levels were recorded, signifying reduced metal-to-metal contact within the bearings.
