Mezzanine contract

The Mezzanine Floor Company has won a 1.5m contract from Knapp Logistik Automation to provide mezzanines for Clarks Shoes 28 000m2 central distribution centre in Street, Somerset.

The main mezzanine will be used as an order picking area for double entry shelving and carton live storage. At 6 and 9.5m, each level is 8974m2. The structure also incorporates a 710m2 level at 3m and a further 150m2 level at 3.5m. The company will construct a control room on the 3m level to give an overview of the sorter area.

The centre will also house a 480 000-location mini-load system covering 12 600m2. Here Mezzanine will be responsible for P&D platforms 990m2 at 3.6m and 690m2 at 7.6m

The two principal levels of the main mezzanine will carry more than 2000m of Knapp intelligent conveyor system that will be interfaced across the mezzanines using carton live storage and shelving techniques and Knapp picking software.
