Sara meets DDA challenge
September 1st 2005 Sara/Loading Bay Specialists has secured a contract that tested its ability to satisfy the Disability Discrimination Act and Building Heritage.
The challenge was to supply a disabled persons lift for a government building refurbishment in Whitehall.
Sara installed a scissor lift with stainless steel platform and handrails (with glazed infill). Access at street level is via an automatic gate, with a pressure sensitive auto closer. There are call buttons at upper and lower levels and the lift has up, down, stop and alarm buttons.
A light curtain is installed in the hand barriers at the edge of the upper level. If its beams are interrupted, the lift will not be allowed to move down. More articles from Sara LBS Limited: |
