An end to sour odours
September 1st 2004

Enviro-Fresh from a company of the same name has put an end to the sour odour from the mens’ urinals at the Institute of Directors in London’s Pall Mall.

The enzyme-based device acts on areas that harbour the combination of limescale and uric acid deposits where bacteria breed. A plastic Sani-Sleeve is inserted into the waste outlet of the urinal and extends into the water in the trap. It is topped by the Enviro-Fresh cap with single de-odourising block containing enzymes that multiply as long as there is organic matter to feed them, plus water-softening agents to prevent limescale.

The periodic enzyme release into pipework works best at just a few flushes per day and this produces significant savings on water use as well as lower maintenance costs. Cap, block and sleeve are changed every three months.
