Fit to work
November 1st 2005

A new service and maintenance division has been introduced by Orbik Electronics.

Companies can now employ the West Midlands-based company to send in experts for regular safety checks of fire detection systems to ensure that they are in top working order should they be called into play.

Orbik, and its sales arm SPEL, are pushing to make such checks compulsory in all buildings, in the same way that fire drills are, to stamp out systems with inferior components that do not comply with British or European standards and which, potentially, are putting peoples' lives at risk.

The newly formed department can undertake complete projects, from initial design concept of fire alarm systems, incorporating alarms, control panels and lighting, through manufacture and delivery to the final commissioning and maintenance of a system when it is up and running.

The new department is headed by fire safety expert, Tony Moseley, who says "It is vital that emergency equipment works should it be needed so regular testing is absolutely essential."
