York has landed one of the most prestigious contracts in the UK – to provide air conditioning chillers to cool London Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5.

York’s expertise in the design, manufacture and factory testing of high capacity ammonia chillers and its ability to provide local engineering and service support were key factors in its successful bid for the £2.7m installation.

Four 6.6mW York chillers, using R717 ammonia refrigerant, have been specified due to their zero global warming potential and zero ozone depletion. They will be delivered to site in December and form the first stage of the installation.
