Year-round comfort January 1st 2006 When Premier Foods rebuilt two factories after a fire at its Bury St. Edmunds site, it required an environmentally friendly heating and cooling system. Celsius Design came up with a solution using Breezair evaporative air coolers from Seeley International, ducted with steam heater batteries.
In the old factory, internal temperatures in summer used to reach an uncomfortable 32°C.
Celsius Design calculated that it would require 20 Breezair units ducted two per inlet into 10 ducts. Each duct was fitted with a steam heat battery that, in winter, helps temper incoming air to give year round comfort.
Extraction is providing using 20 natural vents.
Jan Ling, project engineer for Premier Foods, comments "As very little electrical power, water, and no CFC refrigerants are used, it is far more environmentally friendly than other air conditioning systems." More articles from Seeley International Ltd: |
