Centralised dust buster
July 1st 2006

Aimia Foods is using a centralised dust extraction unit from Nilfisk- Advance at its manufacturing facility on Merseyside. A Nilfisk vacuum clearer is installed as a fixed unit and linked to inlet points along five production lines, ensuring stray particles of powder are removed from sachets after filling, prior to sealing.

Aimia manufacture brands such as Galaxy hot chocolate and Douwe Egberts coffee, as well as Vimto and Brita soft drinks. The tailor-made system incorporates an IV 150 fixed suction unit from Nilfisk's heavy-duty I-vac range, connected via stainless steel pipework running to each filling machine. The cleaner has a rated power of 15kW, with a 7.5kW sidechannel blower and a 45kPa vacuum. It offers filtration efficiency certified to dust class L (light hazard) as specified under BS EN 60335.2.69
