Problems solved by Parkersell at Interbrew in Northern Ireland included how to increase lighting levels in a bottling plant and how to implement a lighting scheme with easy access for maintenance. The bottling hall at the Belfast plant had very low lighting levels. The 400W high bay fittings were difficult to access at 60ft above the bottling lines. This resulted in a failure to clean, replace or repair damaged luminaires. Parkersell introduced a scaffolding company to create a work platform above the production line and then set about the task. The solution retained the existing lighting, with new lamps fitted where required, as back up for the main emergency lighting. A new scheme was introduced in the hall giving a 700lux average lighting level around the plant. A total of 140 6ft high frequency twin luminaires with colour 840 triphosphor lamps were installed at a reachable height to ease maintenance.
